a muffled beat,
of a creaking heart
the foliage of a being,
disfigured and scarred,

by a truth that never seemed,
true enough to wish,
wishing for a moment,
praying just for this,

praying for hope, for life, for me,
pray a little prayer
to live eternally.

nothing here
could lift you so,
no mirror's fool,
no epic glow,

no masquerade,
no covered soul,
no blinding jewel,
no painted gold,
